League Hosts are the people who bring the magic of Silly Pickles to life 🦙

You'll welcome players, keep games running smoothly, answer questions, and help create an incredible experience both on and off the courts 🤠

Behind the scenes, you'll manage our ladder format using our software platform 🚀 Don't worry - it's easy to learn, and the system handles most of the heavy lifting for you.

If you love meeting new people, bringing positive vibes, and helping build community through play, you'll fit right in 🏓

Fun is non-negotiable 🤪 The rest, we'll teach you.

The Details

We'll get you up to speed through a few quick onboarding sessions. After that, the role typically involves:

✅ ~30-60 minutes of admin work per week (scheduling matches, answering player questions, and league communication)

✅ Being on-site during Game Days to welcome players and keep the experience running smoothly

✅ Helping plan a Welcome Party and End-of-Season Celebration

✅ Coordinating with play-for-free volunteers (Social Hosts) to help with league operations + all the fun stuff 🍻

Compensation includes a weekly base rate PLUS a retention bonus based on how many players return for future seasons 🎉

Since most of the real magic happens off the courts, the more community you build, the bigger the bonus! 🥳

We'll hook you up with a Social Budget and plenty of ideas (theme nights, trivia, arcade bars... 🤪) to help make your league the place everyone wants to be.

League Host FAQs

  • Do I need pickleball experience?

    Nope! 🏓 While pickleball experience is helpful, it's definitely not required.

    We're primarily looking for friendly, organized people who enjoy meeting others and creating great experiences!

  • What kind of support will I receive?

    Lots! You'll have onboarding sessions, training materials, and a dedicated Silly Pickles Ops Manager to help answer questions throughout the season.

    We'll also put you directly in touch with other League Hosts across the country (via a GroupMe chat)! It's a great way to share ideas and learn from each other 🤓

  • How do I create the schedules?

    Our founder built an in-house platform that handles all player schedules for you.

    You simply upload your roster, and guide it through a few easy steps.

    After you get the hang of it, it just takes a few clicks each week!

  • Can I get extra help on-site?

    Absolutely! We highly recommend having a few play-for-free volunteers (Social Hosts) to help welcome players, answer questions, and keep the vibes high 🦙

    If you have any friends or players in mind, they're more than welcome! Or, we can help you find someone.

  • Who can play in the league?

    Everyone! Most of our players are young-ish adults and newer to pickleball, but everyone is welcome (aged > 18)!

    Depending on location, leagues tend to have their own personalities 🤪 That's the fun part! Some love a Theme Day, some love karaoke, and some love to climb the ladder.

  • Do you teach beginners?

    Yes! Because we have so many, all leagues include a free Pickleball 101 Session.

    We typically hire a facility pro to teach, but if you're already an expert, you're welcome to lead it!

  • Can I play in the league too?

    Of course! We love when our League Hosts play, although not required.

    Weeks 1 & 2 can be the most "work" of the league, so if you want to play, we recommend adding yourself to a later session to make sure the days are kicked off well.

  • When do I need to be there?

    We anticipate you'll be there each week for Game Play! No worries if you need to miss a week, just let us know.

    Please plan to get there 45 minutes before game time on Weeks 1 & 2 to set up the Welcome Table, work out any kinks, and get ready for lots of hellos 🤓
