FAQs - Denver Pickleball Leagues

Do I need to bring a partner?

Nope! All Silly Pickles leagues are solo sign-up. You can sign up with a friend, but you'll play as individuals - rotating different partners each week - the perfect way to meet new people!

Are the leagues indoors or outdoors?

Both! It depends on where you sign up.

For example, Mile Hi Pickleball gives you a cozy, climate-controlled indoor setup with premium courts where the weather won’t interfere with your play.

Gates Tennis Center offers outdoor pickleball facilities with plenty of courts, so you can play pickleball outside in the Denver sunshine. Because it’s an outdoor venue, weather can influence court availability and scheduling at Gates. We'll always give you a heads up, and options, if weather impacts outdoor play.

What skill levels can join these leagues?

Everyone is welcome! Brand-new players, casual rec players, and advanced players can all join, and play at that level. Just enter your skill level at checkout. It doesn’t need to be perfect; the ladder system will place you where you belong after game days. Our system reranks you to play at the right level, based on performance.

Can I play with a friend?

Yes-ish! You’re welcome to sign up with a partner or a friend for the same league, but you’ll play in our league as an individual (it's not guaranteed you'll be on the same courts each week).

Our leagues are intentionally designed for social play and new partners! If you're the same level, you might be matched with them, and if not, hang after games together at one of our Happy Hours!

How does the ladder format work?

Each week, you’ll be placed in a group with players close to your skill level. You’ll play mini games to 15, rotating partners each round. When you’re done, you submit your total points out of 45, and your score determines whether you stay in your current group or move up the ladder for the following week.

We host everyone from beginners to more advanced players, and the ladder naturally sorts people into the right spot.

How do the rotating time slots work?

We'll send you a schedule with a court # and start time within the league's play windows. Each week, you'll have one hour of game play, and that scheduled session will rotate within the available time window each week. For example, you might play 1–2pm one week and 3–4pm the next.

Do you offer open play or drop-ins?

Right now, we're focused on structured league play, so you’ll need to sign up for the season to join the fun. That said, many of the venues we play at also offer open play or court reservations, which you can organize separately if you’re looking to play pickleball outside of league nights.
