FAQs - San Diego Pickleball Leagues
Do I need any league experience to join?
Nope! Each league has a beginner intro session, so you can learn the basics along with others at your level. Our leagues are designed for newbies who want to play and learn, without feeling overwhelmed. You’ll pick things up quickly, and each week you’ll play with people around your level. You can quickly advance to more competitive courts if you pick things up quickly!
What should I bring with me each week?
A paddle, althletic clothing, and water are all you really need. We take care of schedules, court assignments, balls, and all the fun. Most venues have paddle rentals, if needed - and we usually try to provide a few loaners. Just ask your league host!
How early should I arrive before my session?
We suggest arriving 15 minutes early each week! This gives you time to find your court, meet your group, and get a few practice shots in before the first game begins (if there's a court open). Starting on time helps the entire schedule stay on track too.
What if I need to miss a week of the season?
No worries! Just RSVP to let us know, using the link in the weekly reminder. We won’t put you in the schedule if you can’t be there. Easy, peasy!
How do the rotating time slots work?
Your one-hour session will rotate within the available time window each week. For example, if your league runs from 1-4pm, you might play 1–2pm one week, 3-4pm the next, and 2–3pm after that. We'll assign you with new players and matchups at your level each week.
How intense is the competition?
Leagues are active and engaging, but not intended to be high-pressure. Our more advanced courts often play competitively by choice! Generally our lower intermediate-beginner courts are much more social. You’ll get a solid hour of play and plenty of rallies, but the focus is on fun, improvement, and meeting people. At the top of the ladder (our best courts), the competition can get super fun!
